Acts 2:39, “For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” What promise? The promise of the Holy Ghost, which has been shed forth and which you now see and hear. This verse assures us that the promise of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues is for you, your children, and everyone who receives Jesus as Lord and Savior. Question, does God still call people? Are you a part of that far off generation mentioned in verse 39? If the answer is YES to both questions then that means that the promise of the Holy Ghost, which they heard and saw two thousand years ago, is STILL FOR US TODAY. The promise never died out or went away!
