Since more often than not the word “covet” has negative connotations, some people are a little hesitant about praying for spiritual gifts. They feel they are wrong to be coveting. But we are not wrong to covet the things of God as long as He is glorified. So, what do you do after you pray for the best gifts? You LONG after them. You WANT them. You DESIRE them. You think of ways to get in a position to receive them. The Holy Spirit is desirous that we have a longing for the things of the Spirit, ministry, different gifts and so on. He wants them to be manifested to bring Glory to God. Remember, Jesus is GOD”S GIFT TO THE WORLD, while the HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD’S GIFT TO THE CHURCH!
