Then verse 24 says that “….all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and they were sore afraid.” I want to present to you that it appears like David joined the crowd at this time, because it looks like he came to his senses in verse 26 of 1st Samuel 17, “…And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying. What shall be done to that man that killeth the Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God? And immediately David’s elder brother took offense at David’s confidence and reprimanded his younger brother for acting too boldly.
