David responded to Saul’s doubts with confident words of faith: “……..Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him……..” (vv. 34,35). Goliath wasn’t the first enemy David had faced in his life, he already had face to face confrontations with both a lion and a bear! As a shepherd, David had determined that those devourers would NOT steal one thing from him! That is a winner’s attitude. David needed to defeat his enemy every time his enemy struck.
