The man who bore Goliath’s shield went before the giant; this shield-bearer was to protect Goliath from the blows of his challenger. But when Goliath looked around and saw only small, young David, he was shocked. Immediately the Philistine giant began to mock both David and his God! Goliath began to use his tools of mental and verbal harassment, just like the devil does today.
