Matthew 4:1, “Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.” Notice, that the devil, satan the enemy is the tempter. There are some people who are from different types of denominations and persuasions that do not believe in a persona devil. Matthew brings out very clearly that Jesus was led up TO BE TEMPTED OF THE DEVIL. How can Jesus be tempted by someone who does not exist? Continuing on in Matthew 4:2-3, “And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered. And when the tempter came to him, he said, if thou be the Son of God….”
