The enemy took Scriptures out of context…he took it out of its setting to use against Jesus. If Jesus had thrown himself off the temple, He would have been tempting God. One example of how you can tempt God is to go out in a boat, and in the middle of the water, you decide to jump off the boat…with the knowledge that you don’t know how to swim! Then you say, “Lord, save me. It is written in your Word.” That kind of action will get you drowned in a hurry. Another example, you go down to the furniture store and buy a whole house full of furniture when you do not even have money to make the payments and say, “Lord, you pay for it. You said you’d supply all my need according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. I have a need here, Lord…a whole houseful of furniture that needs to be paid for.”
